Abrahamic Faith... What does that mean? |
|
The name "Church of God" is based on the Apostle Paul's salutation to the church in Corinth. (1 Cor. 1:2; 2 Cor. 1:1) The subtitle "Abrahamic Faith" distinguishes us from the many other denominations that call themselves Church of God. Abraham was the recipient of many promises from God, and he was a man of great faith. He was an outstanding example for all who desire to please our God and Father in heaven. It is of the "Abrahamic Faith", because it believes that the promises made to Abraham will be fulfilled in the church and in the faithful of Israel through Christ. We are bound together by the theme: "If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." -- Galatians 3:29.
